Is your skin oily, dry, normal, sensitive or combination? Find out here!
Before you dive into a shopping
spree for those tempting skincare products, it's essential to know where your
skin falls on the classification of skin range. This knowledge will be your guide
on the path to achieving healthy skin. Each type
has its own unique characteristics and requires specific care to maintain its
radiance. As we embark on this journey, we will explore the five main types of
skin: normal, dry, oily, combination, and sensitive skin.
Normal Skin
Your skin is well-balanced, which in the scientific world is called eudermic. It's not too dry and not too oily, just perfectly in the middle! It's all about flawless skin game, no breakouts, no flakiness, and no greasy or tight feels. Normal skin is totally low maintenance as it doesn’t require special treatment.
Dry Skin
If you're experiencing that tight, rough feeling on your skin and noticing a lacklustre appearance, then guess what? You're within this category! Dry skin is often the underdog, producing fewer oils of its own compared to other skin types. One might notice the presence of an ashy grey shade, accompanied by an appearance of irritation, redness, and tiny cracks.
Oily Skin
The allure of a glossy shine on
the skin! It can certainly be quite captivating, but have you wondered what
causes this phenomenon? This lustrous sheen is often the result of an
over-secretion of sebum, the natural oil produced by our skin. This causes the
appearance of enlarged and visible pores.
Combination Skin
This skin is a delightful blend of
different characteristics, where certain areas can be dry and normal, while
others tend to be on the oilier side, like the T-Zone areas (forehead, nose,
and chin). Our skin type can vary from one region to another, and it's crucial
to tailor our skincare routine accordingly.
Sensitive Skin
When it comes to our precious skin, we know that it can sometimes be a bit temperamental. If you find yourself going through sensations like stinging, redness, itching, and overall discomfort, then you might just have a type of skin that is a tad more sensitive than others.
